Our cellar door is at Mt Uncle Distillery, Walkamin, an hour inland from Cairns on the Atherton Tablelands. Open seven days for tastings and cocktails, with the barrel room on the other side of the wall.

About an hour inland from Cairns, 15 minutes from Mareeba and 20 from Atherton. Free parking at the gate.
Tastings and cocktails, poured at the source
Everything behind the bar was distilled and matured on this site. Sit down with the range in age order, or have it built into a drink by someone who knows which barrel it came out of.
No booking needed for a tasting. Groups of eight or more, send us a note first.
- The paddle
- The full FNQ range side by side, unaged through to rare cask, poured in age order so you can taste what the climate does. Plus whatever is in the sample room that week.
- Cocktails
- Built on our own rum rather than a generic well. The house Daiquiri is Platinum, lime and sugar, which is the cane with nothing in front of it. The Maple Rum Old Fashioned is Iridium, stirred over a stamped ice block and smoked. Palladium goes into the Zombie, which is where 60% belongs.
- Something to eat
- Tablelands produce platters, so the tasting can take as long as it takes.
- Bring a bottle
- We will pull its barrel record on the spot and walk you through what was written about it, draw by draw.
- Cask club
- Private cask allocations, with the same published record as anything on the shelf. Enquiries by email.
The distillery floor is a workplace, so we do not run guided tours. Mt Uncle Distillery also produces spirits beyond FNQ Rum Co. Tastings are conducted responsibly and are not available to anyone under 18. Nominate a driver.

The distillery sits on farmland between Mareeba and Atherton, about 600 metres above sea level. Drive in, park at the gate, and the cellar door is the building with the seal on it.
