Why it exists
Iridium is the first release where oak gets a vote. Five tropical years is the point at which the barrel room has changed the spirit without burying the cane under it.
Tasting
- Nose
- Dried apricot, toffee, warm oak, cane sitting behind it all.
- Palate
- Soft dark fruit and caramel, then the pot still, weight and a little funk rather than sweetness.
- Finish
- Medium, drying. Oak spice with the cane returning at the end.
- Serve
- Neat, or over one large ice cube. Stands up in an old fashioned without disappearing.

Provenance
The number on your neck label resolves to a barrel record: what was filled, which cask, when it was drawn, and how it tasted each time we drew from it.

The climate does the work
Filled at cask strength into reconditioned American oak that held Barossa shiraz, then left in the barrel room on the Tablelands. Humidity above 70% for most of the year moves spirit through wood faster than a cellar ever could.
Where it comes from
Walkamin sits on the Atherton Tablelands, an hour inland from Cairns, between cane country and World Heritage rainforest. Both of these were photographed within that landscape.
